I prefer mail slots in the door. The advantage to those is your neighbors and even the postman doesn't know if you are away.

Paul: I thought about that, but I did not particularly relish the notion of cutting through my door. I did get a locking mailbox, so that should help alleviate the problem--and being real close to the post office helps, too.
